"Rheums, Sprains, Slips of the Tongue" finds the fruitful space where the restraint of digital tools—programmed sequencers, complex signal processing patches, etc.—leaves just enough room for the improvising human to make unexpected decisions. It revels in the magic of the imperfect actor (the Rhodes tine, analog oscillator, guitar string, or degraded 78rpm record) at friction with its fated destination.
